Dynasty Forge 29`` Tamahagane Katana with Bo-Hi in Wave Theme (DF019) |
Points: 100
|
Meticulously extracted from iron sand, the 29" blade is hand-forged from Tamahagane. This steel has all the qualities and characteristics of traditional "noble steel", the true material of the Katana. Hand-forged and folded 8-12 times, the blade exhibits an organic and subtle Hada, most commonly in the Mokume and Ayasugi styles. The blade is clay-tempered and hand-polished on imported Japanese stones, giving the Hamon a white frosted appearance on a dark background. The blade is fitted in our popular turbulent wave theme with a pair of Kirin Menuki. The 11" Tsuka is wrapped in black silk Ito. The Saya is finished in a deep black lacquer. Sold Out

Cheness Kaze - 9260 Differentially Hardened Spring Steel Katana |
Points: 30
|
The Kaze (Wind) is the result of many popular requests for a clay tempered (hardened) blade using our 9260 Silicon Alloy Spring Steel. The blade body of the Kaze is a hand clayed and differentially heat treated 9260 silicon carbon spring steel. It is finished with a replica of an antique blackened cast steel tsuba submitted to us. This steel is stronger than our Kanbai katana, but does not have the same resiliency of the through hardened 9260. The gain from the clay hardening is that the blade has a smooth and elegant natural hamon (9260 does not generate the same hamon as the Kanbai katana). Sold Out

Hanwei Bamboo Butterfly Yanone (XH2230) |
Points: 2
|
Our Japanese arrowheads (yanone) are faithfully reproduced from originals in museum collections. Some yanone were strictly utilitarian while others, like most of these examples, were beautifully pierced and decorated and used primarily for presentations and temple offerings. Most pieces fall into one of several broad groupings. The Torii, Dharma, Monkey Moon and Bamboo Butterfly fall into "Willowleaf" pattern, while the Swimming Dragon, Watakusi, Sakura and Fudo follow the Flesh Terror (Barbed) profile. The Karimata, Dragon Cloud, Boar's Eye and Tiger Dragon are crafted in what is known as the "Rope Cutter" style, though it is more likely that this profile was used for hunting big game rather than cutting ropes. These arrowheads, either singly or in groups, are outstanding collectibles and conversation pieces. Also available is the arrowhead display stand (OH2235) to showcase up to 6 arrowheads.
